Purpose
This
independent activity is designed for health care professionals
as an overview of how to approach the pediatric patient—from the
infant to the teenager.
Objectives
Upon
completion of this activity the participant will be able to:

Discuss the evaluation of vital signs (TPR,
BP, and weight) in children of all age groups.

Describe the assessment of the child for
hydration status.

List the common causes of Pediatric
emergencies.

Describe the nursing assessment of each of
the above emergencies in the pediatric population.

Correlate the ALARM signs in a child with
specific disorders.

Discuss the common drugs used in pediatrics.
